The MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management is a 39-credit program that provides students with a solid foundation in the theories and practices of business management within a health care system. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), whose standards are based on the Baldridge National Quality Program criteria, the MBA coursework focuses on management theory and application, as well as quantitative areas including economics, accounting, finance, and decision science. Other topics include marketing, organizational behavior, ethical and legal issues, and human resource strategies. The final course in the program emphasizes strategic problem solving and analytical thinking by integrating theories and techniques learned throughout the degree program. Students select and investigate a significant issue found in the healthcare industry and fomulate strategies to meet the internal and external challenges and opportunities faced in this changing environment.
Throughout the MBA program, students work in project teams to investigate typical workplace issues and make recommendations for solutions. The teams, consisting of peers with varied backgrounds, also serve as a support system that benefits the entire educational experience. During the first course in the MBA program, all students complete a joint Community Service Project. This project enables students to learn to function as a team, deepens their appreciation of their civic duties and responsibilities, and demonstrates the Franciscan Values inherent to the mission of Cardinal Stritch University.
The MBA program includes valuable knowledge about business strategies, promotes analytical thinking and provides the tools to build leadership and teamwork skills, which enhance the quantitative content areas of the MBA degree. This enables the MBA graduates to obtain the proficiencies needed to advance their careers and assume the duties of middle and upper level management with confidence. This program can be taken in the classroom or online.
